Description
Introduction to Irish Dance (Fall 2024) (Online)
Laura Neese, Mondays, 7:30pm–8:30pm
8 weekly sessions beginning September 23
In this beginner-friendly course, students will be introduced to basic elements of both hard and soft shoe-style Irish step dance, including foundations in form, posture, rhythm, musicality, and conditioning. All classes include a warm-up followed by Irish dance-specific drills and steps. Students begin with basic patterns and, over the term, progress to learning reel and jig steps in a supportive and friendly environment. Sneakers are appropriate beginner shoes. Specialized shoes, such as ghillies or ballet shoes and hornpipe or tap shoes, are optional.
Please note: There will be no class on October 14, in observance of Indigenous People’s Day, or on November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
